Perhaps after a breakfast of Green Eggs and Ham, dozens of parents and community members will march into schools across CVESD on Friday with a (sorry!) Left Foot, Left Foot, Right Foot, Right. It will be part of Read Across America, an annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on March 2. That is the birthday of beloved children’s author Dr. Seuss. Volunteers will read to students at schools across CVESD, from Lauderbach and Liberty to Loma Verde and Los Altos. In addition, the students and staff at Allen Elementary are planning a Storybook Character Day. They decided to try to break the Guinness World Record of the most storybook characters gathered in one place at one time. The current record is 453 people. Will they break the record? Will Thing 1, or Thing 2 cause a hullabaloo?
