District 4th Graders Engage in ‘Battle of the Books’

Battle of the Books Regional Winners to Be Honored at Reception, Take Part in ‘Ultimate’ Battle on April 16

The Chula Vista Public Library’s 10th Annual “Battle of the Books” competition took place recently with District fourth grade stuents competing in quiz-show style format to see which class knew children’s books the best. The Altrusa Organization generously donated copies of the books to each participating class.  The schools that participated this year included: Chula Vista Hills, Halecrest, Hilltop Drive, Thurgood Marshall, Veterans, Eastlake, Wolf Canyon, J. Calvin Lauderbach, and Liberty. A reception and trophy presentation for the regional winners will be held on Friday March 9 at 5:30 p.m. at South Chula Vista Branch Library, 389 Orange Avenue.

The ‘ultimate’ Battle of the Books championship between the three regional winners will be held Monday, April 16. The regional winners are Chula Vista Hills, Lauderbach, and Marshall schools. Special ‘thank you’ to Betty Waznis, Director of the Chula Vista Public Library, and her staff for organizing the event.
