Rohr Celebrates New School Garden

With the help of business and community members, Fred H. Rohr Elementary recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new school garden. A Goodrich Foundation Grant for $30,000 assisted in construction of the school garden, development of the computer lab, and encouragement of students to enter the fields of science, technology, engineering and math. The school extends a special ‘thank you’ to the employees of Goodrich Aerostructures (Rohr Inc.) for their ongoing support of students. The Goodrich volunteers, Rohr staff and community members constructed the garden, which consists of seven planter boxes (one for each grade level), five fruit trees, recycling water station, compost and a reading area. Students will learn the importance of eating the fruits and vegetables they will plant as part of a healthy diet.
