Student Greeting Cards Bring Holiday Cheer

With a detailed drawing of a festive family room, sixth-grade student Katherine Bacolor won first place in the District’s 2015 biennial holiday greeting card competition. A greeting card competition was conducted during November to encourage student artists to provide artwork for the District’s official holiday card. The card was distributed electronically to more than 27,000 households. In addition, approximately 150 printed cards were mailed to community leaders, and district partners.

Judging of the entries by District staff and community members took place on December 3. The competition helps generate community goodwill and appreciation of student artwork through cards designed and created by students. California Coast Credit Union and Copy Link are the event sponsors.

Katherine, who attends Olympic View Elementary, will receive a $100 cash prize. Brisa Gamboa, a fourth-grade student at Mae L. Feaster Charter, took second place and will receive $75. Paulina Safa, a fifth-grade student at Salt Creek Elementary, captured third place and will receive $55. Entries from the 20 schools that participated are on display in the main lobby of Building A at Chula Vista City Hall.

Salt Creek staff would like to wish all of our students and families a very joyous Christmas and holiday season during Winter Break! Please read the article below from CVESD. It highlights our own Paulina Safa, 5th grader, who took 3rd place in the CVESD Holiday Card contest. See her beautiful entry!
